Toast to Hope, Wine Tasting and Friendraising event honoring Tyra Rose Weis, President of the Associated Pomona Teachers

This year, it is with great pleasure that we congratulate Tyra Rose Weis, President of the Associated Pomona Teachers on being selected as the recipient of this year’s Pomona Valley Democratic Club Hope Award for 2010.  The “Hope Award” is the highest accolade bestowed by the Pomona Valley Democratic Club and was created with the distinct purpose of honoring individuals in the Pomona Valley region that have come to embody not just our Democratic values and principles, but have inspired us through their hard work, personal courage and great sacrifice “to achieve a more perfect union” as President Obama so eloquently encouraged.

The “Hope Award” will be presented to Miss Tyra Rose Weis at the Toast to Hope, Wine Tasting and Fundraising event on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the 2nd Street Bistro located in Downtown Pomona.  The event honors and celebrates the grassroots efforts and civic activism required to make changes in our American political system.  The term “Hope” is used as a means of uniting Americans and to work towards a better future.

Please don’t miss this great opportunity to meet fellow Democrats that share with you a desire to better our community.

Tyra is in her second year as APT President. She was elected by the teachers after serving 15 years as an elementary classroom teacher at San Antonio Elementary. She is graduate of Mount San Antonio College and Cal Poly Pomona where she obtained a communication arts degree, a teaching credential and a masters degree in Design Based Learning.
